CCC is on Track for a Record Year!

As more families learn that attending a Catholic school is possible for their children, more families are coming to CCC.  As we planned, CCC now assists over 80 students for the current school year.  The plan also includes a goal of assisting over 100 students by this fall–the 2017-2018 school year.

By mid-March, not only have almost all current students re-applied for scholarships but a record amount of 12 new students have completed the FACTS Scholarship Application.  CCC will continue to meet with new families through the spring and early summer so we are assured that CCC will meet its goal of assisting over 100 students this fall.

Thanks to the many donors and supporters who make our work possible!

CCC Kicks off School Year with Picnic

On Sunday, August 9th, CCC families, students, mentors, and many others gathered at the Good Shepherd/Lehmann Hall to welcome the new school year.  Guests enjoyed three-legged races, a water balloon toss, and a kickball games before going inside to have a picnic dinner.  Following dinner, students received new backpacks filled with school supplies that were supplied by parishioners at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.  Over 60 students will begin this school year participating through CCC.

Two Former Principals Join Community Catholic Center Staff

Community Catholic Center has hired Carol Meirose as the Director of Elementary Education and Becky Henle as the Director of Secondary Education.

Meirose recently retired as the principal of St. Agnes School and has worked in Catholic elementary education for most of her career.  She will assist CCC students enrolled in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grades.

Henle most recently served as the principal of Assumption High School. She will work with CCC students enrolled in grades 6-12 both in academic work as well as post-high school planning.

CCC Board Chair Chuck Willenbrink commented, “Community Catholic Center is fortunate to have two educators who are so well-respected joining our staff.”

In this academic year, 50 students are enrolled in CCC’s program – 40 elementary students and 10 high school students.  CCC students attend Notre Dame Academy, St. Leonard School, St. James School, and St. Anthony School in Clarksville on the elementary level.  Current CCC high school students attend Holy Cross High School, Trinity High School, and Presentation Academy.

In addition to providing educational, financial, and family support for families, CCC involves its members in family enrichment activities, after-school tutoring, summer educational programs, and community service projects.

Holiday Assistance for CCC Families

In this season of giving, many people look to assist families and children who are in need.  If a CCC family predicts  that it will have a hard time providing Christmas gifts and a meal for its children, we like to provide a helping hand.  CCC is blessed that organizations like St. Vincent de Paul and the LMPD have assisted in providing holiday meal opportunities.  CCC also has volunteers and donors who provide gift opportunities for children.

Many children have asked for books, sporting equipment, and clothing.   If you would like to join in helping a young child realize the joy of Christmas, please feel free to contact Heidi Imberi-Hamilton at 424.9398 to get more information.

2013 Christmas Celebration

CCC looks forward to celebrating Christmas with its families and supporters on December 19, 2013.  Guests are invited to gather at Resurrection Hall at 6:30 p.m.  Santa will greet guests and encourage photos.  The catered dinner will begin around 7:00 p.m.  Before Santa leaves for the evening, he will share a “surprise” with the children.  If you would like to join us for this festive evening, please contact Mike Goetz, Development Director, at mike@communitycatholiccenter.org
