CCC students recently participated in the city-wide Operation Brightside Clean-Up.  Students and parents walked the streets of Portland near the former St. Cecilia Parish picking up trash and tires—working to beautify the area.  “It was wonderful seeing everyone working together and having a good time doing it,” said Justin Shults, CCC Social Worker who coordinates service projects for CCC families.

CCC has participated in the Operation Brightside Clean Up in the Portland neighborhood for many years.  Following the clean up this year, CCC added its own spin to the event.  Students, parents, and volunteers worked to create “bucket gardens” for the families to enjoy.  Through a donation from Earth First, Tim Thornburg— a CCC volunteer—helped students create their own personal gardens.  First they decorated their buckets then filled them with dirt.  Thornburg then discussed with them the plants that would grow best in their personal gardens.
