Trinity High School Kicks off CCC Christmas Open House

For the past eight years, Trinity High School has partnered with CCC to spread Christmas cheer. This annual event which has evolved over the years has developed into a fun-filled activity that draws many in the CCC community together. THS and CCC staff begin planning the event in September–detailing games, supplies, and the much anticipated gifts that Santa delivers.

CCC participants write letters to Santa, and he has helpers from the Trinity High School community lend a hand. On Sunday, December 15th, over 30 THS students attended Mass at Good Shepherd Parish then led activities for CCC participants in Lehmann Hall. In addition to the games, participants enjoyed a visit from Santa and lunch together. Possibly the highlight of the day is when children “decorate” the Trinity students as a Christmas tree.

Two years ago, Santa noticed that many children ask for new socks. In 2018, the St. Michael’s Parish Ladies Club collected new socks for students. This year the Ladies collected over 300 pairs of new socks–every child is encouraged to select a pair that best fits his/her personality.

Thanks to Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians

For years the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians has supported CCC for the annual Back to School Picnic. However this October, they hosted Kilts for a Cause for CCC at the Holy Trinity Clifton Campus. Guests enjoyed appetizers, a raffle for the Barrel of Cheer, and entertainment by comedian Mark Klein. We truly appreciate their support of CCC as a result of this enjoyable evening.

Annual Thanksgiving Prayer Service & Dinner

In November, CCC hosted its annual Thanksgiving Prayer Service and Dinner for all participating families. The evening began with a traditional turkey dinner provided by the Catholic Education Foundation. CEF staff, Trinity High School Honor Society, and friends of CCC shared in the serving and hosting responsibilities while CCC families enjoyed time visiting with friends in the program. Following dinner, the gathering moved into the Good Shepherd Catholic Church next door for a prayer service led by students from Sacred Heart Academy. This annual tradition truly celebrates all that is good this time of year. Photos of this event are available.

2019 Back to School Picnic

In late August, CCC hosted its annual Back to School Picnic. Families gathered for games and dinner on the grounds of Good Shepherd Parish on Rudd Avenue. Over two-thirds of the families attended and supported the event by leading yard games or donating soft drinks or desserts for the dinner. Several community volunteers joined the CCC staff as well. Many photos of the event are posted in the PHOTOS page.

The 2019-2020 School Year Has Begun!

With students having been in school for a few days now, CCC is proud to announce that it will be assisting 107 students this school year. This is a dramatic increase over the 81 students we worked with for last year.

This wonderful increase is because so many current and former families have encouraged their friends and family to invest in their child’s education just as they have.

Enrollment for the 2019-2020 School Year

If you are interested in your child or grandchild attending a Catholic school, now is the time to visit CCC to learn about the process.  Please call our office at 502-424-9398 to get more information or to schedule an appointment.

Participation in the CCC Program is based on the following criteria:

  • Living in any of the West End neighborhoods (zip codes of 40203,40210,40211,40212)
  • Enrolling in the program before a child enters 6th grade

Even if you don’t fit the criteria above, feel free to give us a call.  We have several partners in the area who may be able to help.

The Growth Continues

As many visitors to the CCC webpage will see, many months have passed since our last post.  The biggest reason for that is success in the program!  By the beginning of 2019, over 80 students are attending Louisville Catholic schools through their involvement with Community Catholic Center.

As a quick update, five part-time staff members work with over 50 families in the program.  In addition to attending meetings and conferences at schools, CCC staff members assist families and students through tutoring and counseling services.  CCC continues its commitment to education by providing psycho-educational testing for students.  This testing helps both the family and the school to better understand how each child learns.

As we look to the 2019-2020 school year, we plan on another record year of new students to Louisville Catholic schools.

CCC is on Track for a Record Year!

As more families learn that attending a Catholic school is possible for their children, more families are coming to CCC.  As we planned, CCC now assists over 80 students for the current school year.  The plan also includes a goal of assisting over 100 students by this fall–the 2017-2018 school year.

By mid-March, not only have almost all current students re-applied for scholarships but a record amount of 12 new students have completed the FACTS Scholarship Application.  CCC will continue to meet with new families through the spring and early summer so we are assured that CCC will meet its goal of assisting over 100 students this fall.

Thanks to the many donors and supporters who make our work possible!
